SBJ is proud and excited to present the 1st Atlanta-based program designed specifially for young male and female dancers ages 6-16.  The program will run semi-anually and the principal instructor is Mama Fofie Akoto, MD, MEd. and master certified ASA! instructor.  As a  teacher and perpetual student of traditional African culture, Mama Fofie has been studying for over 30 years and has been teaching for over 20. She has taught all levels of dancers in all age groups and dance arenas.  She has directed and performed with traditional drum and dance ensembles throughout the US and Africa. She is continually honored by every opportunity to pass on her knowledge to help preserve and carry forth African culture. Dr. Sherrill Johnson was one of Mama Fofie's dearest and most influential dance mentors, so she holds a special place in her heart for SBJ and its mission.
